Roland Walters is an award-winning writer and director, represented by Curtis Brown and WME. He is a winner of the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Award.
He is currently writing and creating a TV survival thriller about a Wyoming Mountain Rescue team for Netflix and Carlton Cuse’s Genre Arts. His recent television work includes a pilot about a Louisiana tugboating dynasty for FX with Otto Bathurst attached to direct, as well as episode Five for Season 2 of the espionage thriller, The Undeclared War (for Channel 4 & Peacock), starring Simon Pegg. On the feature side, he is writing a neo-Western thriller about Colorado water theft for Ramin Bahrani, with Brandon Sklenar attached to star.
In the documentary space, he has recently finished directing a feature about an epic Mongolian propaganda play that gets banned by the CCP (trailer here), and he directed a series of documentaries about Ferrari for Michael Mann.
His narrative work also extends to video games. He wrote and directed the game, Unknown Number. It was Official Selection for the London Games Festival in the ‘Narrative Excellence’ category. Metro described it as “a great story… a truly impressive feat for a tiny indie studio”. He is also the lead writer on an upcoming game for London studio, Meaning Machine, and European studio, ARTE.
